25/06/08 ASHIRA: ROBERT LARSEN HAS NOT PAID UP FOR THE FIGHT!!

Ashira (L) Vs Thiam

IBA light middleweight champion Evans “The African Warrior” Ashira (29-3, 15 KOs) is furious with Danish promoter Robert Larsen who staged the Copenhagen-based Kenyans April 19 title fight against former European champion Mahmadou Thiam, a bout Ashira won by sixth round knockout.
“This guy is such a crook! It’s been more than two months now, and Larsen hasn’t paid me for the fight yet. He keeps coming up with all sorts of excuses, and now I have had enough! I have been very patient with him, but he is so full of B.S. it’s unbelievable, and he should shut his fat mouth”, says the former WBA and WBO world title-challenger.
Ashira, who is a freelancer with no promotional

or managerial ties to Larsen, also reveals that he was lead to believe by the promoter that the Thiam-bout would be for the IBO Intercontinental title, and only found out afterwards that this was a lie and that in reality it was for the much less prestigious UBO I/C bauble. On top of that, the fighter has still not received the belt he won, as the promoter has not paid for it yet.
Larsen should stop running around playing big-shot when he can’t even pay the boxers who fight on his shows. He is a sad joke, and I can only warn anybody who is considering doing business with him to think again. I know for a fact that I am not the only one he owes money”.
Ashira is taking legal action to finally get his purse!

14/06/08 ASHIRA OURE HELPS KESSLER WITH SPARRING
IBA Junior middleweight champion of the world, the African Warrior, Evans Ashira Oure ( (29-3, 15 KOs)reached out to former WBC/WBA world super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler and gave him some quality sparring leading up to his upcoming fight on June 21 against Dmitry Sartison for the vacant WBA title.
The sparring was really good and just what Kessler needed to get sharp for his fight, as both he and Ashira are very established and at the very top among professional boxers in Denmark. Ashira has sparred with many of the best fighters in the world, including world champions Floyd Mayweather and Arthur Abraham, and, like Kessler, he also fought the legendary Joe Calzaghe, loosing on points after twelve rounds
Champ Ashira Oure
Ashira stepped in on short notice to do the rounds with Kessler when his acting sparringpartner was said to not be able to manage by himself, and Ashira is happy to have helped his friend and at the same time be able to feel his own level. Ashira will be back in the ring September, Manager Jan Andersen is working on a date to be announced.

21/04/08 ASHIRA  COMES BACK IN CLASS BY KAYOS THIAM IN 6TH

Ashira (L) Vs Thiam

19.4.2008: In a battle of former world tittle- challengers, Evans " The African Warrior" Ashira ( 29-3, 15 KOs) Knocked out former European champion Mamadou Thiam (42-7, 39 KOs) in round six of a scheduled twelve on Saturday night(April 19th) in Frederikssund, Denmark. Ashira, a promotional free agent who once went twelve hard rounds with Joe Calzaghe at super middleweight,is now back at 154lbs,and is looking to get in line for a shot at one of the four major world tittles this year.
The fight started on even terms with both fighters having their share of success, and with the

experiencing some difficulties in establishing his rhythm, but as the rounds progressed, Ashira started taking over and applied more and more pressure on Thiam. From the 4th round it was apparent that the Frenchman was getting less and less dangerous, and looked like a matter of time before Ashira would be able to mount his final attack.
The end come 1.05 of the sixth round, when Ashira pinned Thiam against the ropes and connected with hard body-shots before going to the head and landing two crushing left hooks which send Thiam down for the full count. It was an impressive finish which showed that there is a lot left in the Copenhagen-resident.
Ashira went through knee sugery after winning the IBA World Title last September, and his first back. He hopes that one of the big names in light middleweight division will be next:
" i couldn't get my Rhythm going in the first few rounds, but i am satisfied with my overall performance. There are always questions when you come back after hard injury, but i think i did not take easy fight back, and feel like i will be ready to take on anybody in the world next time out"
said Ashira, and continued:
" I am a promotional free agent, so there are nobody holding me down. If any of the World Champions out there are looking for live opponent who is easy to deal with, let their people should call my manager Jan Andersen. I'm ready to roll with anybody! "

09/08/07. ASHIRA OURE  BACK AT JR. MIDDLE WEIGHT
Evans “The African Warrior” Ashira (27-3, 13 KOs) moved back to Jr. Middleweight 02/08/07. Ashira was to face Ante Bilic who cancelled two weeks to the fight date due to personal reasons, he was replaced by Florin Oanea, who Ashira beat easy in three rounds. Ashira says this was just target practice for him. As his opponent was really over matched and all Florin hoped for, was to be able to ruin the fight. Ashira did not let that happen after his coaches told him to box and make it look smart. He couldn't get it working course his opponent jumped at him all the time try to hold.
Ashira decided to just finish him, course he was not ready to give it too much time and make a show out of it.

Ashira at Croatia
After landing a big over hand right on the top of Florin head, which saw Florin fall in the ropes after sailing around looking for something to grab on. Florin got caught again with two good power body shots that made him struggle to make it through the round. In the third round Florin did not want more of this, and kept holding desperately even the referee warned him not to. It was evident that the punches that were landing at a frightening power was just a matter of time that Florin will be knocked out bad. The referee had to disqualify him, because he could not let go even he was told to.
Ashira wants to thank his manager Jan Andersen for making it happen, even Ashira was disappointed that Ante Bilic pulled out, but Ashira had to do what he had to do. All he hopes for is the contenders at Jr. Middleweights wants to fight him, course most of them are just babied too much and are 'paper contenders'. Any top ten Jr. middleweight who thinks this aren't true is welcomed to call my manager Jan Andersen and lets make it happen for the boxing game.
AshiraOure inc. promotion put up a six bout none title fights at pal pal Gymnasium last weekend 04/8/07 .It was the second show since the company was launched in April this year . The African warrior home coming fight is under works . Ashiraoure. inc. promotional company is negotiating with possible sponsors for the big event by the end of the year, to bring Kenya's top proff. boxer home to Kenyan fans .
07/06/07. ASHIRA's INTERVIEW.
Former two-time world title challenger Evans “The African Warrior” Ashira(26-3, 13 KOs) has had time to reflect on his controversial decision loss to Howard Eastman in April for the Commonwealth middleweight title, where he felt he was victimised course of boxing politics . In this interview Ashira speaks about what is going on, and how the future looks for him.

Evans, tell us a little bit about how you are doing and what is going on after what happened in England?

Right now, I am looking to return some time in July. People know how the fight with Eastman went down: I was on my own, fought him in his back yard and only had two and half weeks notice for the fight

Ashira Oure's
.But he had everything to his advantage, from the promoter to the time-keeper. The biggest let-down however was the referee, who did not even think about doing his job properly. Holding is legal, but not excessively, which is definitely what Eastman did. Without a doubt! Pulling your opponents legs is illegal no matter how you look at it, and Eastman did that to me more than once. If the referee had been awake, he would have deducted at least three points from Howard for excessive holding and pulling my legs at least three times. The referee didn’t even mention this .Many observers thought you won the fight by at least three points because you landed the cleaner punches and hurt him a couple of times, including in the last thirty seconds where he just survived by jumping on your legs and held them on his way down. What are your comments on that?
What can I say? When all is said and done, people who saw the fight will always remember he got a gift win. But those who did not see it will read what the press says and they can only make their decision on what they want to believe from that. I am happy that I know the truth, and he knows the truth: that title belongs to me! Everybody have the right to have their own opinion, and I will still fight all those pretenders out there anytime, anywhere!
As I understand it, Eastman said his preparations where good until the end, but that his travel situation was a problem, while his coach said he only trained for six days and had just two sparring sessions. What are your comments on that?
Well, that is like saying he is confused and don’t know what excuse to use since he got this gift victory. They did not have enough time to set up the excuse. At least Eastman was honest and said that everything was good except the travel. Howard just ruined the fight and had a generous referee and a even more generous judges. It was the trainer who tried to cover up his performance by making up the excuses. If you watch the interview after the fight, you can see that Eastman could not talk at first and wanted the interviewer to speak to his trainer while he sat back to catch his breath. Anyway, you know how it goes, I needed a knockout to win that fight, and you cant knock out someone who holds your arms and pulls your legs all night. Honestly, I just needed a serious referee to make it happen. Come on man, the guy had home ground advantage, plus all the officials on his side, and on top of that he was allowed to hold me like that, and pull my legs too. He even said himself that he had to ruin the fight to survive. Incredible!
What should we expect to happen with Evans Ashira now, and what is in the future for you?
The African Warrior is still here and ready to fight anyone anywhere, and I still believe there are a lot of pretenders in the middleweight and light middleweight top tens. Just call my manager Jan Andersen, and lets get it on, no excuses. People know what I am about; I boxed Joe Calzaghe with a snapped shoulder muscle and still did twelve rounds. No one mentioned that, and only spoke about Joe being injured. I snapped a muscle fibre in my right shoulder in the fourth round, everyone saw the big scar on my right shoulder at the Eastman fight, and it took me nine months to get back after surgery. I just turned Howard Eastman into a clown in my last fight, and I just need a little luck and the chance. I would love to do it one more time with Eastman. On TV, off TV, it doesn’t matter .
I heard you have a show coming up in Kenya with your new promotional company Ashira Oure Inc. Tell us about that !
Sure. This is a big project where we will bring out all the young warriors from Africa to show the world what they got. If everything comes through as we hope, we will try to offer Eastman a rematch in Mombasa I would like to do it late September or October, but I hear he has a fight coming up with Wayne Elcock, so we have to see what happens with that .Otherwise, I could be going for the African title at middleweight or light middleweight.
