In the summer of 2008 I was looking for a new way to work out, where I could lose a few kilos and get in better shape but having fun, at the same time.

I started training with Ashira in august 2008. My plan was to train with Ashira as a personal trainer until Christmas and then start in Ashiras boxing class. But here I am, 10 months later still training three times a week with Ashira as a personal trainer - I am hooked. 

Before I started training with Ashira I never realized that boxing is not only about getting a strong body, it is also about getting a strong mind.  Boxing is so tough - I have to prepare mentally to do it.  For the last 10 months, I have been working out on a level that I never thought, I could do. And that is thanks to Ashira – he has been working with my mind, telling me that tiredness is only a mental thing – and it is!
 

I can use the mental strength I get by boxing in every aspect of life. I received a mental strength I can use every day at work when I have to stay focused.

Training with Ashira is always fun (and hard). Ashira always prepare the training, in a way that suits me and my goals but at the same time taking care and strengthen my bad back.

I managed to lose 3 kilos from august until december 2008 – in the same time I managed to build my shape.  I lost 8 centimetres on the hips and 8 centimetres on the waist and I have gotten so much stronger.

Getting fit in no time #1:
I spent two months with Evans. Lost 7 kilos with very little change in my diet. Went from struggling through 800 meters to running 4 km effortlessly.

The good answer to too many meetings:
My days are filled with meetings and too much “dining and wining”. I have tried several diets over the years. But nothing have beaten training with Evans. Lost 7 kilos in two months and got my breath back.

My name is Søren Hansen. I work in the IT industry and have done that for the last 25 years. Being a white collar worker, my daily work normally consists of sitting in front of a pc, talking on the phone and go out and eat. In short that means that I over time had hit the 92 kg plus mark. Not that it really bothered me. Actually I thought I was OK fit due to my consistent badminton training over the years.

The idea of a personal trainer had never occurred to me. As it happened one of my friends asked on the 31st of December 07 what the plans were for 08, and a friend and I replied that it would be OK to lose a “few” pounds. The BMI model indicated that, given my height, 78-80 kg would be within the acceptable – hence I carried a surplus of 12 kg. The first guy then suggested boxing training combined with a personal physical trainer – and this happened to be Ashira. Also referred to as Evans.

 

With a focused training program, architected and highly supervised by Ashira, I managed to build my shape and still lose weight from 92,2kg to 82,0 kg during the period 4th of January 08 to 10th of March 08. Whether it was fun? Well – the training in itself is not that entertaining. However Ashira manages to constantly tease and motivate you into a situation where it partly becomes fun and partly becomes a personal competition that you deep inside feel you can win – and which I did win.

Now the challenge is to maintain the good shape through limited and controlled intake (like most danish people I used to drink and eat more than my body could burn). However – now that I’ve made it this far I’m very motivated to stay fit. I could not have managed to do this on my own. It takes more than good will – it also  takes the competence of knowing how the body works, a competence I didn’t have but that Ashira clearly demonstrated he had – and obviously still has.

And finally one last thing. You get nothing for free – you really need to push yourself to your limit plus a bit more. Because as Ashira says: “Without pain, no gain”.

 
 

I enjoy Ashira Oure´s programs very much, and we are having fun in our training.

Be it doing weights, or doing boxing combination drills on the pads, working the punching bags, shadowboxing or just using the medicine ball is all fun.

I never realised you could have fun and loose weight at the same time. I more than 35 kilos without getting bored.
